SnOasis the only winter sports resort in England.

		SnOasis will be the first winter sports resort in England and will have the biggest indoor real snow slope in the world. But SnOasis is more than just a ski slope, it will be an Alpine ski resort with thousands of beds and all the entertainment that goes with it. All disciplines of snow and ice will be available as well as shops and restaurants with lots of additional attractions. It has taken since 1967 when the first prototype ski slope was constructed to reach this point.  Not only will it be a national centre of excellence for winter sports but an academy for winter sports where school groups from all over the country can come and experience the excitement and thrill of these sports.  The academy has currently been entered by The Skiers Trust of Great Britain for the Bank of Scotland Social Entrepreneur Award and will also embrace the work done by organisations such as Snow Camps.  The Skiers Trust were the first to sponsor Snow Camps and to recognise that winter sport had the means to awaken the potential of children from less fortunate backgrounds.  These organisations take disadvantaged children from deprived inner city areas and whilst experiencing winter sports put them through a programme of life skills.  The academy will have the capacity to take 10,000 children per annum for a week’s course in their chosen winter sport.  This will make a huge difference in our ability to produce a credible winter sports contingent at the Winter Olympic Games.
